Our store is powered by Shopify, which provides the technical platform for our online shop. We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version is always available on this page, and changes apply from the date they are published.
1. Using our website
You do not need an account to browse the Website. By placing an order you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. You agree to use the Website lawfully and not to introduce viruses, malicious code or anything else that could harm the Website or other users. We may refuse access to anyone who breaks these Terms.
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you may not copy, reproduce, sell or otherwise exploit any part of the Website, its content, photos or branding.
2. Products and information
We describe and photograph our products as accurately as we can. Colours may look slightly different depending on your screen settings. Product information is for general guidance and is not a promise that a product will suit your particular needs. Please check the product details, dimensions and bulb or power requirements before you order.
Some products are only available while stock lasts. We may change or discontinue products at any time.
3. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in the currency displayed at checkout and, where applicable, include VAT. We may change prices at any time, but a price change will never affect an order that has already been confirmed.
Payment is taken securely at checkout through Shopify’s payment services. Your payment details are encrypted and are not stored on our own systems. You agree to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date order and payment information.
4. Orders and contract
When you place an order you are making an offer to buy. We will send an order confirmation by email, but a binding contract between you and us is only formed when we dispatch your order.
We may decline or cancel an order, for example if a product is out of stock, if there is an obvious pricing or product-information error, or if we suspect fraud. If we cancel an order after you have paid, we will tell you and refund you in full.
Purchase quantities per person or household may be limited.
5. Delivery
We currently deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom only. Standard delivery is free. Delivery times shown on the Website are estimates and not guaranteed dates. For full details, please see our Shipping Policy.
Risk of damage or loss passes to you when the goods are delivered to you. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible at support@lightinglondon.uk.
6. Cancellation, returns and refunds
You have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. You can use our Cancellation Form or simply email us.
On top of your legal right, you can return most items within 30 days of delivery. Items must be unused and in their original condition and packaging. To start a return, email support@lightinglondon.uk with your order number. Unless the item is faulty or we sent the wrong item, you are responsible for the cost of returning it, and we recommend using a tracked service. We do not charge restocking fees. Refunds are processed within 7 working days after we have received and checked your return. Your bank or payment provider may need a few extra days to show it.
Please read our Refund Policy for full details. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
7. Faulty goods
All goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If a product is faulty or not as described, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to a repair, replacement or refund. Please contact us at support@lightinglondon.uk with your order number and, if possible, photos of the problem. For faulty electrical items, please stop using the product until we have helped you.
8. Electrical safety
Our lighting products must be installed and used as described in the product information and instructions. Fixed lights (such as ceiling and wall lights) should be installed by a qualified electrician where required by UK regulations. We are not responsible for damage or injury caused by incorrect installation or use that goes against the instructions.
9. Third-party tools and links
The Website may include tools, services, content or links provided by third parties, such as our payment, shipping and parcel-tracking providers. We do not control these and are not responsible for their content or conduct. Please read their terms and privacy policies before using them. Any complaint about a third party’s product or service should be addressed to that third party.
10. Reviews and feedback
If you send us content such as a review, photo or suggestion, you give us a free, non-exclusive right to use, publish and adapt it in connection with our business. You confirm that your content is your own, does not break any law or anyone else’s rights, and does not contain false, offensive or harmful material. We may remove content that we consider unlawful, offensive or inappropriate.
11. Personal data
We use your personal data as set out in our Privacy Policy.
12. Errors and omissions
Occasionally there may be mistakes on the Website, such as typing errors, wrong prices, or incorrect product information or availability. We reserve the right to correct errors and update information at any time. If a mistake affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you so you can choose to continue at the correct details or cancel for a full refund.
13. Prohibited use
You may not use the Website:
- for any unlawful purpose or to encourage others to break the law;
- to infringe the intellectual property rights of us or others;
- to harass, abuse, defame or discriminate against anyone;
- to submit false or misleading information;
- to upload or spread viruses, malware or other harmful technology;
- to collect personal data of other users without permission;
- for spam, phishing, scraping or similar activity;
- to bypass or interfere with the security features of the Website.
We may restrict or block access for anyone who breaks these rules.
14. Our responsibility to you
We will provide the Website and our products with reasonable care and skill, but we cannot promise that the Website will always be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free of errors.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law, nor does it affect your statutory consumer rights. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss that was not a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach, nor for business losses such as lost profit, as the Website is for private consumer use only. Our total liability for any order is limited to the price you paid for it.
15. Ending use of the Website
You can stop using the Website at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. Rights and obligations that arose before the ending of your access remain in force.
16. General
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, this does not mean we have given it up. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Shipping Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about your purchase.
17. Governing law
These Terms and any contract between you and us are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless the law of another part of the United Kingdom where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there. This does not take away any mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live.
